OMV E-Mail hacked/leak?

    Hi all, I have a NAS with OMV 4.1 running for some days now. I just received a fishing/scamming mail yesterday:


    obv I wont pay because I have good porn taste :P jokes aside: I am writing this here because I just used this email for sending me alerts and what really worries me is the fact that the scammer really seems to use my real e-mail adress to send this: I cant see any alias being used in like all the other spam mails I receive and even my provider send this to me on the green list instead of red/spam list. notice that even amazon mails usually land on my yellow/unsure list. Now I am unsure what to do now but somehow I feel like OMV is leaking here...

    Is the email the one you put in the GUI of OMV to receive notifications?


    Then it might be that someone has hacked your server and got the credentials. Credentials are saved unencrypted on the server.
    It that case the loss of credentials might be the minor issue as he would have access to all your data on the server.


    Is your server exposed to the internet?

    yes i put it in the gui of omg that is why i asked in omv forum. no, the nas is not exposed to the internet. the only way to access my network from internet is by fritz vpn


    the email is on the pwned list because of the sony hack years ago and i changed the pass meanwhile.

    I got the exact same email before I ever installed OMV. I ignored it, and nothing happened.

    Is this old airplane safe to fly? How in the world do you think it got to be this old?

    But good you found an explanation.


    By the way I also got a similar mail some month ago.

    do you guys receive this email from your own email adress pr any other spam adress?


    @macom for clarification: this is an old adress of mine, I use it as my semi-spam mail for registering and services that aint that critical like payments and stuff. it got leaked once when sony psn was hacked but I changed passwords meanwhile. it was used for sending me notifications from omv
