when I first restarted after install it said no network interfaces available. I ran omv-firstaid and it said can't connect connection refused. Then after restart it shows the following: https://imgur.com/a/pegyzLR. Can anyone please help?
No IP instead weird letters

- OMV 4.x

I've had that happen before messing with virtual machines, and usually just had to make adjustments to the connection settings, but never a build.
If you log in as root and
hostname -I (uppercase i)..
Does it show you your IP? Maybe try omv-firstaid and reconfigure your NIC
-
After a restart it now says again no network interface available. That command doesn't do anything. When trying to configure from omv-firstaid it says cannot create socket to [localhost]:2812 connection refused.
Edit: After restarting again its back to showing that weird text. Omv-firstaid keeps giving that error I mentioned above
-
I'm assuming the machine isn't online....
ping -c 5 aol.com
I hope your NIC isn't bad again.. this is weird.
-
Isn't that an IPv6 address? it should be possible to get to the GUI using host name

It gives me temporary failure in name resolution. Last time there was no light on routor or NAS. This time the lights on both are blinking like they be. Also the screen before log in says ok started raise network interfaces. Ok reached target network. Ok target network online.

How do I do that?

How do I do that?
Well if you're using chrome http://<hostname> and I think the default host name is openmediavault or http://<hostname.local>

I tried http://openmediavault and http://openmediavault.local. Both didn't work
-
Ok log in to your router and check ip address range and dhcp table.

When he tried to ping aol.com a few minutes ago, he got a temporary failure in name resolution...
Could this be a DNS issue?
What's the output of cat /etc/resolve.conf
-
Could this be a DNS issue?
I think it could be, but if you look in /etc/network/interfaces it will just reference dhcp, so unless the router is totally running IPv6 it should give an IPv6 dns. That's why asked for information from the router, mine does both, but I use IPv4 for internal.
-
Makes sense.
@thegameksk did you find anything in your router settings?
If not, you could try downloading angry IP scanner to your desktop and run it, and it will scan all IP's on your network, and may show your OMV IP...

In my router it shows the connection but its in ipv6. Under DHCP it says IPv4 start 192.168.1.2 and IPv4 end 192.168.1.254. Not sure if that's what your looking for. Also this is a reinstall and in my router it has the IP that I set to be static. Not sure if this is the issue. Angry scanner didn't show anything for omv.

Hmm... I wonder if that is the problem. For some reason it wants a new IP but can't get one because it's set in the router settings (which usually assigns by mac address.. that doesn't change)
Try deleting that reservation.... then reboot.

That's not normal!! there is usually a range which is used to assign to DHCP requests on your network, as an example my router is assigned 254 but the DHCP range is 192.168.1.64 -192.168.1.253 this leaves anything before .64 to be used if necessary for static IP's. My router is not able to assign a static IP via MAC address nor can I add so that the PC can pick up that ip address via MAC.
Your router should also have a DHCP table, this lists the host name of the item on the network along with it's ip address. What makes no sense here is that OMV is only picking up an IPv6 address not an IPv4, which it should be doing.
What's the make and model of the router?

i erased the reservation no change. My router is the RAC2V1S Sagemcom. Its a charter router. I found the guide online to it

Did you try running omv-firstaid after deleting the reservation?

I don't think it's his router. Mine shows exactly the same thing.

Yes I did then vafter restart it again said no network interfaces. Trying a reinstall bc at this point idk what else to do. I just passed the autoconfig network part and it said it worked so we still see
Edit: After reinstalling IP shows up. Not show what the issue was before
