    I tried to create a new share and when I apply I receive the following error:

    For anyone using OMV 5 that could help there is very little information other than the error message, I have just dusted off my OMV 5 test machine and installed a number of updates, rebooted due to kernel update. Created a shared folder, save, apply and no error.
    As this is a test machine it's an unused i5 laptop with a single hard drive for data, using amd64 and booting from a USB Flash Drive, I have Docker installed pointing to a share on the hard drive.

    Whenever a shared folder is added or edited, all of the shared folders systemd mounts are restarted. If the shared folder bind mount is in use, it can't restart it.

    Sorry for the rather silly question, but what constitutes use?


    One of my shared folders is an SMB share mounted by another computer on my network, is that problematic when trying to add a new shared folder?


    I read in another thread that shared folders are off limits for uses like Docker storage. I was definitely using a shared folder for my docker storage, I'm going to guess that's the root of my problem here. I'll come back to this thread if I get the error again.

    You can use shared folder if you use the complete path, i.e. /srv/dev-disk-by....


    You should not use the link in /sharedfolders/....


    Cannot create shared folder on new or existing drive
