Hi
After the crash of my OMV raid and the a complete disorientation about a new solution I just want to ask you about your raid systems.
Let me know what's your solutions are and how you use, run and maintain it.
I'm really interested in.

None.
Drive A is my "working drive"
Drive B, is my back up drive.
Once a day, an automatic rsync job runs and backs up Drive A, to Drive B.
Not RAID, but SnapRAID for data. Daily dd image of OMV system disk with most recent seven days kept.
Pairs of Odroid HC2s with big (12TB - 16TB) HDDs running OMV.
The first HC2 in the pair stores and shares data. The second HC2 in the pair is backup for the first, using rsync snapshot scripts started automatically using cron.
Also a RPi4 running OMV with 2x8TB drives in a dual drive external powered enclosure, combined using mergerfs. Used for extra backups of cold data.
Incoming ASRock DeskMini 300A. Will be used as an application server streaming media from the HC2s in the network. Will have no/little own data storage but will use cachefs to cache NFS on a SSD.
Daily dd image of OMV system disk with most recent seven days kept.
Please, can you show me the commands to do this?

I will attach the shell code scripts, but you will have to adapt them to your setup. It is assumed that you have some experience with this. If you don't know what you are doing I suggest not using them.
I run these scripts on cron daily.
make-dated-dd-image-backup-of-system-drive.sh is the script that makes the dd image of the system drive.
movefiles.sh is the script that moves the images into date named directories and deletes those older than seven days.
Thanks!!
I think the backup-plugin does the same if you select dd as backup method (instead of rsync or fsarchiver).
Hello gderf,
can I run your script while OMV5 is running ?

I do.
I'm going to change my build and this is my plan:
- raidz1 for the data
-6TB hard drive for daily backup
- daily backup on Mega using duplicati for most important things
- Maybe some blu-ray disk since I have a BD burner.
