problems setting up NAS

I have imaged an SD with the 4.x version of OpenMediaVault and have been trying to install it on a Raspberry Pi. I have seen quite a few installation videos on Youtube but as soon as I try to connect with the Raspberry via its internal ip address I can't connect. I have tried several browsers, several computers but every time and again there's no connection possible. I have given the Raspberry a fixed IP address, checked this every time, and I have disconnected mouse, keyboard and screen and waited long enough for the OMV to be installed. I have even reset my modem hoping this might solve the problem. I have also re-imaged the SD. Can anyone think of a possible cause of this problem?

How did you give the RPi a fixed ip before installing it? And why? Try installing with just plain DHCP.

i gave it a fixed ip via my modem/router. Simply because i thought i wouldn’t have to check the address without a monitor being attached to it.

You don't have to use the IP. You can also use the hostname in the browser to access the GUI of OMV.

e.g omv.local
