urbackup on omv5 raspberry pi 4b

  • Greetings,
    Omv-version 5
I followed the omv PDF for installation of omv (only version 5 available) on a raspberry pi 4b.
    Nice and fast.vall went well.
    Situation:
Omv5 does not support doker gui just yet.
    We need to use portainer.
    Installed portainer
Not many dokers available. I found urbackup as a backup system for my systems in my LAN.
After a successful docker I stallation, I can see the running image.
Back on OMV, I cannot fi d any service o client to be able to configure it
I would need some help if anyone has experience with it in OMV 5
    Thank you.
    Ps
I already successfully changed the docker oath to my 1T external data ssd

It never will. Portainer is the option we are using on OMV 5.x.

    Not many dokers available.

Strange. There are thousands of armhf dockers on hub.docker.com.

  • Ok. Thanks. No doker gui in omv5.
About portainer apps, I don't see many. Not on the plug-in page.
When I look at the omv-extra.org, there is a list of app for and up to omv v4.
Omv5 list is way more short in the omv plugin page .
If I miss something, I would appreciate you explain me .
And about the urbackup, ... Is installed but nowhere to be found in omv5. Again... I can overlook something.. I appreciate if you point that out for me.
I really would like to use it.

There are no docker apps on the plugin page. You need to look on hub.docker.com and then specify the image in portainer.

    Read morlan's comment.

  • The official urbackup docker for arm is currently work in progress. Check in back in a week.
In the meantime you can use my image : morlan/urbackup_docker:latest

Hi @Morlan, I am now trying your suggestion. I have installed the image in Portainer. I can see it running. no error during installation.
However, under the Service in the GUI, I do not see the URBACKUP. or anywhere else in OMV.
Could you please give me some help about how to start with urbackup?
I also tried to open the web interface using one of the tcp exposed ports... but I do not have any interface or answer.
I really would d need some help here.
    Thanks

Docker images do not add anything to the OMV web interface. Depending on your container settings, you probably need to goto http://changetoyouromvhostname:55414

None of the suggested ports above work.
I also see those ports on the published ports. It the address does not respond. I used the server up:ports
The container network mode is in bridge. Should be ok. Correct?

  • Container connected to bridge network
but I did not modify that. It was already in bridge
I was looking in the wrong place for logs... here is is:
I noticed a couple of errors. Note: I use ext4 (no zfs or btrfs)

  • I installed it by giving your image name in the image name field
Publish all exposed network ports to random host ports ON
    Enable access control OFF

    Nothing more than that.

For the logs, I posted it here above. the previews post. did it not come out in the forum?

I can post it again if not.

    Thanks

  • I would suggest to remove the container and set it up using the docker-compose.yml provided in the Readme. You can use the stack option of portainer to deploy it. It has all the necessary configurations.

    I tried successfully!
I copied the script on the docker-composer web editor, deployed and I do have the web interface working now.
    Much appreciate.
Now I will deal with the configuration.
    Question:
any update will be automatic or I need to re-deploy if you change version? (I am new in this. sorry for the question)

  • When there is a new version you manually pull the latest image and recreate the container through the stack

    Hi Morlan,
the urbackup webUI warns me there is a new version.
Following your above suggestion, I went to the Stack and switched to EDITOR.
I have an option there called: UPDATE THE STACK
Looks like is pulling the new image. but urbackup is still giving the same message (to update to latest version).
do I make any mistake in this procedure?
    regards,
    Kattivius
