Newbie build on Raspberry PI4

  • Have two WD 4TB NAS drives
Have two USB 3.0 powered adapter trays.
Have Raspberry PI 4 running OMV (5.3.2-1)

OMV only seeing one of the 4TB NAS drives (sdb) on the USB 3.0 ports.

Again newbie so my apologies but I see apparently I can NOT use RAID 1 (or any RAID for that matter) with a USB interface. True under all circumstances?
Is there a workaround for my lovely WD NAS HDD's as storage devices?
If no, any suggestion on getting an 'almost' RAID 1' setup (maybe with some regular automatic or manual maintenance copying data from hdd1 to hdd2?

Help me obi wan... you're my only hope :)

Sorry but this has been talked about so many times. OMV no longer allows you to use usb drives in a raid array because it is a terrible idea.

Why can't you use them as storage devices just because they aren't in raid? Format them with a filesystem in the filesystems tab and pool them if you want with the unionfilesystems plugin. Or sync one to the other for partial backup with the rsync or rsnapshot plugin. Watch some of the videos and it should make more sense. https://forum.openmediavault.o…ntermediate-and-Advanced/

As mentioned above.. rsync or rsnapshot. Much better idea on a device that has no redundancy or availability that raid is meant to be used on.
