I do have legacy boot enabled. Also if I boot into recovery mode I can get back to the console if that helps
Man, what a nightmare thread.
you're telling me. I want this so bad but I'm really tempted to just give up. Unraid is looking pretty good at this juncture. Without Aaron I would have been there a long time ago
What type of mobo? Can you throw in another NIC??
At this point I think I might just go to drys and buy another NIC to get this stupid thing up and running then update it and pull it back out (as I'm going to need the slot for a data card). I could give two sh*ts about the money I'm so frustrated. The mobo is an Asrock Z87 ITX
Any advice as to what kind to get? I'm heading down there now.
I know how it can be but that is by far easiest solution for now. In linux always have a spare Intel card laying around. Are you trying to install .5 or .6 OMV? You could install a copy of Wheezy and then OMV .6 on top. But you will not have all the plugins yet of .5.
Intel but an older model NIC. Definitely not the newest model. Something that works with e1000 driver.
Well the plugin I'm most concerned with is snapraid as that was the whole point of this project. If snapraid is unavailable then .5 it is.
The motherboard would work fine with wheezy/omv 0.6 and the backports kernel. Just need to get it on there! I would love to find a wheezy iso with the backports kernel like squeeze had. I would really like to know how to build the 0.6 omv iso with the backports kernel (and maybe omv-extras preinstalled )
The snapraid plugin is available for 0.5 and 0.6. I use it
SnapRaid plugin is in .6 already.
You are making a habit of this Ryeco.
On my way to frys as we speak. What are we going to do if we can't get it to boot from usb though
I did not read all stuff earlier but if it is not booting try a different usb port. Not all usb ports are available before drivers are installed. Usually there will only be like 2 that will work pre the os install.
Tried the two 2.0 ports that were previously working. Neither work now but both are acknowledged in the bios. I could try all the 3.0 ports but I don't know why that would be necessary. The two 2.0 ports were working initially
They should still work then. Try the others. If none are working you may have to flash to latest bios. Such a pain in the A**!
I had it check for new bios this morning and it said that they were up to date
Well I picked up a cheap $12 one because it was literally the only pcie ethernet card in the store. It's got a Realtek chipset though so hopefully it can be detected. So why route should I go? Try to install wheezy?
Look at last post here:

If you do not want 50 plugins and maybe only a few I would go with Wheezy. If you want stability go with .5 OMV.
I think I'm going to just go with 0.5 as I don't think I could mentally handle any more problems. I just got the card installed, now I'll try and fight this usb situation
None of the usb ports are recognized with the boot drive in there. FML.
