A storage email solution ?

    Hi,


    Wonder if such a solution exists. I'll try to explain with my (very) bad english.


    I already have plenty of space on gmail, hotmail, outlok.com, yahoo, etc... thing is, I want to have my mails back to my home and no more on those --NSA-- servers. I have some web domain though (with something like 2 Go of space).


    I would like to have a web domain attached email on roundcube for example (this I have) that can synch with my NAS. OMV could backup my emails and I could have plenty of space, have searching ability, filter, etc... My email client could either check my roundcube or my OMV NAS system for email reading...


    Or is there any other solution to get rid of those big email providers ?

    You need to host your own email server which is not easy.


    I did make a plugin called openmediavault-offlineimap to backup email from email providers like google but it isn't what you are asking for.

    uh ? Why ? Sounds like that, no ? imap backup, storage (but no searching or crawling option ?)

    There is also a roundcube plugin too. Roundcube is just an imap email viewer. These tools just sync your email. So, they don't give you any more space.

    EDIT : so this plugin can't archive my emails on my OMV ? It's just IMAP ?


    EDIT2 : This could be cool : "a server that retrieves my emails by POP3, stores them in a maildir and serves them to Roundcube by IMAP"

    There is plugin for roundcube that can archive emails but I have never used it.

    Most email servers can do that. I used to use Zimbra and it could.
