Create multiple SMB/CIFS shares on one (aufs) pool

  • Hi,

    this might be a stupid questions. But can I create more than one samba share on one aufs pool? Currently I have one pool and one samba share. I would like to have more samba shares. Or, do I need to create new pools for those? I use SnapRaid on my pool since it is mostly media files. I'd like to also use snapraid for any new pools. Since snapraid depends on the drives, I wouldn't have to change anything, right?

    Thx

    Create a shared folder inside the pool shared folder

    pool = /pool/
    share1 = /pool/share1/

  • Okay, so from the view point of a samba share this look the same as creating a folder in the pool which is mounted in windows. But I can use the shared folder inside OMV for plugin, which I can't do if I create it in Windows. It that correcht?

    Atm, I have my entire pool as a samba share. So creating an additional share folder as you said doesn't make much sense. But if I wanted different samba shares for different stuff I would have to create additional share folder inside the pool shared folder and then configure only these as samba shares.

    pool = /pool/ [no longer a samba share]
    share1 = /pool/share1 [samba share 1]
    share2 = /pool/share2 [samba share 2]
    ...

    Is that about right?
