replace hard drive.

  • Hi,

I have a HDD data that I want to replace with a larger capacity.
I can clone the old HDD to the new HDD ?.
Then remove the old HDD and put the new ?.

I need to make some settings in OMV or more that is enough ?.

    Thank.

    Turn system off.
    Put new drive in.
    Boot clonezilla.
Clone the old drive to new drive.
    Turn system off.
    Remove old drive.
OMV won't even know you changed drives.
Then boot gparted-live and resize the drive to take advantage of new space.

Please put your OMV system details in your signature.

  • After repartitioning the system drive, how does the newly freed space show up in OMV? Is it listed as a new partition or device? Could one use it as shared folders and stuff?

  • Sabnzb, sickbeard and couchpotato all require a volume for its backup settings. Could one use the free space on a repartitioned system drive for this purpose?
