Hello, I just managed to got OMV installed on my NAS box.
I'd like to change my IP-address for the NAS, is there a way how I can do that?
How can I get https working?

In the web interface:
IP Address: System -> Network -> Interfaces
https: System -> General Settings -> Web Administration
Means I will change the IPV4 settings:
Method = static
Address = IP-adress
Netmask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: What should I fill there?
Gateway = router address
Don't forget to set dns servers. That should be your router address as well.
Is the router address always ending with 0 = zero or just with 1? Why should I set DNS servers, what are they useful for?
The IP address will not end in 0 (zero). I don't know what your router IP address is. You should be able to tell if you set the system back to dhcp.
A DNS server is how your system turns a domain name into an ip address. You won't be able to update the system if you don't set a DNS server.
Why should I set DNS servers, what are they useful for?
Just don't set them. You will see what they are usefull for then...

If I didn't got that hint I wouldn't face that I miss DNS servers or I didn't face in some scenarios why it does not work.
On a connected Windows client, press Windowsbutton+R, enter cmd - then type ipconfig and look for the standard gateway. Thats your router.
Here is an example:
Method = static
Address = 192.168.1.211 (Don't pick an adress which is already taken by another device in your network)
Netmask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.1.1 (router adress)
And thats how you gonna end up with no internet connection

O weh...
Huh?
No Woman no Cry. No DNS no hostname resolution.

Oh. I thought that I was telling something wrong in my post
DNS Server
Primary : should be ip of your router which for most home routers is 192.168.1.1
Secondary: 8.8.8.8 ( Just use that. It is Google's DNS Server)
It looks like the Fritzbox default ip is 192.168.178.1
Oh. I thought that I was telling something wrong in my post
Not wrong but not right either. You missed the DNS Server...
Greetings
David
hello, i tried described, does not work, reboot, not accesible from browser, sfter next reboot it falls under mischmasch adress.. how i can change interfeace setting when it is writing that "ifconfig" is not found command? thanks
This is a very old thread. Maybe it is better to open a new thread describing your problem and the OMV version you are using. I assume it is not OMV1
To configure the network interface from CLI use omv-firstaid
