Hello,
I've got a sempron 140... would be worth to change to a Sapphire E350 Motherboard? I use it for nas and also for minidlna.....so I want the ability to stram 1080p video ..Thanks
Change mobo?

As long as you aren't transcoding (minidlna doesn't), either should work.
-
for transcoding what you mean? changing the format?
-
Yep but changing the format as you stream in real time.
-
other software then minidla would do so? or it's just the only dlna player we've?
-
minidlna doesn't transcode but there are other programs out there that do. minidlan can stream 1080p just fine as long as it is a format it supports. Do you need to transcode?

I've a TV Panasonic 47Vt20 that supports DLNA, don't know if it can stream 1080p over ethernet, I wish that my nas transcode it to a lower rate for thi sspecific device

Sempron is a 2700Mhz Single core... the E350 is a dual core but at 1600Mhz...
-
I guess the Sempron might be enough to do one stream. I know my N40L (dual 1.5 GHz) struggled with transcoding 720p.

Much easier to just get a different processor. I'm using a sempron 145 with 2nd core opened. You need an amd sb710 southbridge chipset, or higher, to do this but it works great. In another machine I'm using a 45w 400e, a tricore, I got cheap off e-bay. If you watch e-bay you might find an amd 600e, 610e or a 615e. The 620e is the best amd low power, 45w, you can get. It's a quadcore. On e-bay you can find some of these processors really cheap from time to time. If I see a 620e cheap I'm getting one. I have an E350 board and it seems slow. But it's running WHS-2011. Look at benchmark comps e350 vs. 620e:
http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=AMD+E-350
http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cp…cpu=AMD+Athlon+II+X4+620eThere is no comparison. The processors with "e" on the end are from amd's energy efficient line of processors.
PS- Right now, on e-bay, I find a 400e for 44.99 US dollars and a 610e for 58.99 US dollars. There are times when you can find someone dumping old stuff and get these at half these prices. I think I picked up my 400e for like 25 bucks.
Here are benchmarks for the n40l that a lot of ppl are using, just FYI:
