TRIM (discard) on data drives

  • I just clean-installed OMV 1.10 (on Debian 7.8) on a server with a bunch of SAS SSDs, no spinning disks. It correctly set the discard option in /etc/fstab for the O.S. drive (which is a hardware RAID1 /dev/md0), but did not do it for the data array (a software RAID6 of a hardware JBOD).

    Is there a way to add fstab options that OMV won't overwrite, or otherwise make OMV enable TRIM for SSDs other than the boot drive?

    /etc/fstab extracts:
    /dev/mapper/nas01-root / ext4 noatime,nodiratime,discard,errors=remount-ro 0 1
    UUID=6860c16b-3496-4892-8a25-22c6612b8c60 /media/6860c16b-3496-4892-8a25-22c6612b8c60 xfs defaults,nofail,noexec,usrquota,grpquota 0 2

    /etc/mdadm/mdadm.conf extract:
    ARRAY /dev/md0 metadata=1.2 name=nas01:data1 UUID=fa8b8d5a:f74d3527:f50fc54a:311f76ec
