password reset

  • Hej to all,

i run a openmediavault since some weeks and I was successful with installation and setting. Now I have the problem that either my password is not accepted or I forgott my password and I am not able to reset the root password.
I tried to delete the string in the /etc/shadow file for root which is descripted in the wiki, admin with openmediavault does not work.
    Does somebody have a hint?

If it is not possible to resset or recover the password, is it possible to reinstall the omv without any changes on my storage drives? I do have a separate drive for os and two storage drives.

    Thanx in advance

    /Gero

Boot a Debian Wheezy install image and choose the rescue/repair option. This will chroot you into the environment and allow you to change the root password with passwd.
