rsnapshot error "...does not exist": wrong commands?

  • Hi there,

i recently set up my new OMV server and now i am trying to get the rsnaphot-plugin run.

I want to use two hdds for the backups:
Source disk: Datavault, Folders: gemeinsam, ...
Target usb disk: Backupvault, Folders: rs_gemeinsam, ...

So far i created a backup job in the gui using above settings. But the backup did not work automatically. Also manual starting of the job didn't work.

Unfortunately the log-file /var/log/rsnapshot.log wasn't existing. So i enabled it in rsnapshot.conf. Now i get the following errors:
    /var/log/rsnapshot.log
    [03/Apr/2015:00:24:28] /usr/bin/rsnapshot -c /var/lib/openmediavault/rsnapshot.d/rsnapshot-2cad8837-a5c8-49c5-ae92-7608d5325d53.conf daily: ERROR: /media/d0e3cfed-5152-4427-8fb5-da04c258ff54/rs_gemeinsam//Datavault/gemeinsam does not exist.
[03/Apr/2015:00:24:28] /usr/bin/rsnapshot -c /var/lib/openmediavault/rsnapshot.d/rsnapshot-2cad8837-a5c8-49c5-ae92-7608d5325d53.conf daily: ERROR: rsnapshot refuses to create snapshot_root when no_create_root is enabled
    [03/Apr/2015:00:27:18] /usr/bin/rsnapshot -c /var/lib/openmediavault/rsnapshot.d/rsnapshot-2cad8837-a5c8-49c5-ae92-7608d5325d53.conf daily: ERROR: /media/d0e3cfed-5152-4427-8fb5-da04c258ff54/rs_gemeinsam//Datavault/gemeinsam does not exist.

It looks like the command for rsnapshot is wrong (Missing blank space between source and target folder?)

In the corresponding rsnapshot-2cad8837xxxx.conf there is also a line looking wrong:

    # rsnapshot-2cad8837-a5c8-49c5-ae92-7608d5325d53.conf

    lockfile /var/run/rsnapshot-2cad8837-a5c8-49c5-ae92-7608d5325d53.pid

There's written: "Do no edit...". What can i do to solve this?

    Best regards,
    Bastian

  • Just curious but can you check and see if the USB drive is mounted? I had a similar issue with an old USB drive that did not mount after a reboot. I had to manually remount it to work. I got rid of that old USB drive and replaced it with a new one. I do not have the issue anymore. I also compared your config to mine and they both are similar.

  • You were right! I use a portable USB drive for backup, but a few days ago i disconnected it by mistake. The effect was that rsnapshot wrote directly to /media/d0e3cfed... and filled the whole rootfs. Finally rsnapshot wasn't able to write anymore to the disk and also the gui login was broken.

    Thank you for your hint!
