I am looking for a solution to expand my crypt partition, but it's not working.
I am using, lvm and crypt.
So, actually, the partition is mounted, and only the lvm partition has been expanded but not the crypt partition.
Where can post this demand ?
my openmediavault version : 4.1.35-1

My understanding is that after unlocking the encryption whatever was unlocked is auto mounted, if my understanding is correct OMV 5 either broke that or I have an issue that I need to resolve.

How to lock a encryptet HDD?
I have created a encryption device.
- unlocked it
- created a filesystem EXT4
- mount HDD
- create a shared folder
- create a SMB share
Everything works great!
Whats the best way to lock the device?
The only way i found:
- delete the SMB share
- delete the shared folder
- unmount the HDD
and only then i can lock the device...
Why cant i go to Luks plugin and lock the device directly?
The best way to lock is to shutdown the machine. Luks doesn’t let you lock devices while in use same as when you want to unmount a disk.
You should be able to lock it in terminal by disabling the services that use the encrypted partition, the web ui locks all chained shares and services.
If you’re going to be plugin in , pull out hdd on the fly then maybe omv is not for you.

As I recall yes unlock via the web should kick the mounts of the ones associated with luks
I’ll see if I can take a look at the plugin there must be an omv api change. Users that have access to a local console (either screen, ipmi or virtual) consider using the crypttab so you’re prompted at boot for passphrase.
Personally I ended up with unlocking LUKS disk from the Web UI and making simple cron job: check if disk was unlocked - then mount and restart docker.

I cannot reproduce the auto mount on unlock. This keeps working on a VM with latest omv. People with this issue can you please check your omv backend environment variables just in case

My disks also don't auto mount after unlocking the encryption. I'm using OMV5 on a RasPi3B. There is no env var called OMV_LUKS_MOUNT_ON_UNLOCK in

If there is no variable - add one. Restart few times after. Now it works for me somehow.

Nope doesn't work.
The problem has no high priority for me because I usually don't restart my server very often or unmount my disks so it's bearable.
Just wanted to point out that something seems to be broken since v5.

After changing /etc/default/openmediavault
omv-salt stage run prepare
omv-salt stage run deploy
to deploy the changes.
I've trued this solution on my OVM 5 fresh instance:
1)Added OMV_LUKS_MOUNT_ON_UNLOCK="YES" to /etc/default/openmediavault
2)omv-salt stage run prepare
3)omv-salt stage run deploy
But still nothing. It's not a big problem, but still exists for me.
