Installing OMV2.x with Intel I219V

  • Hi,
    I have problems installing OMV2.x on my new MSI B150M Eco with Intel I219V NIC. Maybe someone can help me with installing/compiling a suited driver? Unfortunately Google wasn't my friend so far :(
    Thx,
    Chris

    Hardware: MSI B150M ECO - Intel Pentium G4400 - 16GB Crucial CT2K8G4DFD8213 - Mushkin Chronos SSD 120 GB - 4x WD Red 4TB (RAID5)

    Don't have time to update the script right now but look at this and update it for the code here

    omv 7.0.4-2 sandworm | 64 bit | 6.5 proxmox kernel

    plugins :: omvextrasorg 7.0 | kvm 7.0.10 | compose 7.1.2 | k8s 7.0-6 | cputemp 7.0 | mergerfs 7.0.3

    You need to download and install the backport kernel 3.16 probably. Google says the vendor:model is 8086:1570

    this iso here http://dh2k.omv-extras.org/deb…ras_3.16_kernel_amd64.iso

    Comes with bpo included, but is not used during install, so you will still have no network during install. The kernel will load on first boot, hopefully the network will be working. So access the text console and try with ifconfig eth0 up then dhclient eth0

  • Thanks for the quick response! I'll give it a try tomorrow. Now I'll have some sleep :)

    I ordered the same motherboard and I'm wondering how would you use the script? It needs a working network connection to download the drivers files to compile. I have already compiled a drivers in VM installation with instructions in this thread ASUS H170I-PLUS D3 . And I'm hoping it will work for me also.

    Typically, you put a temporary network card in the system and run the script. Otherwise, modify the script to remove the wget commands, download the files from a working system, and manually put them on the system to compile on. You could compile them in a VM and move them too.

  • That sounds not that easy. I tried to run the make install from a usb thumb. But it failed, make was not available. Now I'm running 3.0.4 w/out problems.

  • Finally I managed installing OMV2.x. I used an temporary USB network adapter (Apple) for the installation. Aber the installation was done I installed the 3.16 backport kernel, which brings the drivers for my Intel NIC.
    Thank you for your help guys!
