Wake on Lan with Netbook

Hi everybody,
i am testing OMV on my old Samsung Emilia Plus Netbook. I've read that WOL should work with this NB, but in my case it doesnt. Ethtool says WOl is disabled and the LED on my switch is dark when NB is going down.

I am no Linux Professional...

It could be disabled at BIOS, you should check there first.

The in the network interfaces configuration of omv you can turn the wake on lan switch on.

Also i would like to know what card is it, apt-get install pciutils

Hi,
there is no explcit WOL feature in bios. The switch in omv is on already.

Can you post now

lspci -s 09:00.0 -vv

The option in BIOS might be called wake on PME or have other name, you need to read the manual probably.

Try setting the WOL in cli

ethtool -s eth0 wol g

See if it changes with ethtool eth0 to "Wake on: g"

There was a bug in this driver

Suppose to be fixed some time ago. I need to see the debian kernel source if this patch was indeed applied or actually never made it to mainline.I'll let you know then, or if you want to go ahead and look around debian git or kernel source.

You can try I haven't examine if the driver has a different version from default kernel and bpo. But doesn't hurt to try

Try nano /etc/modprobe.d/sky2.conf

Add this

options sky2 legacy_pme=1

Save with ctrl+x and reboot, see if the wol set's up correctly this time.

unfortunately also this two tests wont work. Is there an possibility in OMV 3 ??

No omv 3.0 won't help you. The kernel it uses is the same as backport kernel.
