Oh. I thought you were posting the dock you were using. I have a couple of external docks so I am very familiar with them.

Plug the 6tb drive in, wait 30 secs, and post the output of: dmesg | tail -n 30

That only supports 2tb drives as well according to the page you linked to. Are you trying to put both drives in a once? Did you try just the 6tb?

Not sure what the problem is. Maybe the RPi doesn't support a 6tb NTFS formatted drive?? I don't use NTFS on Linux. I would be curious to see if it recognized the drive if it was formatted ext4.

Before you can pick a dock, you need to figure out if NTFS is causing the problem. I really wouldn't use NTFS on OMV. Use a native Linux filesystem. I don't own that dock but one comment on Amazon says it works with Linux. No idea if it works with an RPi. Buy me one and I will test it for you :D

Just because the RPi is running Linux does not mean it has all the same drivers/modules/characteristics as other distros. An RPi is an arm processor that is very different from your laptop. If it works with your dock with a 2tb drive formatted ntfs and does not work with a 6tb drive formatted ntfs, this means the 6tb drive and/or ntfs that size is incompatible with the RPi and/or its current kernel. Not much you can do about it.

I would try the drive with a linux filesystem. If it works with a 6tb linux filesystem, that will answer your question. If not, then the RPi doesn't support 6tb drives with that dock. I searched but couldn't find anyone trying to connect a drive that large to an RPi. Maybe you can get more help on the RPi forum. This may be a Raspbian issue but isn't an OMV issue.

If you can't change anything about the drive, then you will probably have to use a different system other than the RPi. Just about any old desktop would work until you can do something with the drive.
