samba-share transfer speed slowed down

hi folkz ...

... my network speed to/from my samba-shares slowed down from about constant 100MB/s to 60 - 75 MB/s

Nothing changed on hardware-side (It's still an N40L with OMV 2.1)
Only the OMV-updates were installed from time to time ...

Strange:

@home my iperf-performance went down from max. 887 MBit/s to 648MBit/s
@work it's still up on 884 MBit/s ... but transfer slowed down

all "samba-tuning" informations I've found made no difference ...

Your samba speed corresponds to your iperf measurement if you consider some overhead: 648 MBit/s = 81MByte/s

So it's not your Samba but your network.

Just some thoughts:
- Cable problem
- Some other daemon "stealing" bandwidth
- Switch bandwidth
- Harddisk problem? (SMART Monitoring?)

right ... but maybe a misplaced declaration by me:
here @work:
iperf: 884MBit/s
samba: 60-75MB/s

it was > 100MB/s ... but I don't know, when it slowed down ...

Check cables, Switch(es) etc. as those could be failing slightly, causing your network to slow down.
