Flash Memory Plugin and Full System Encryption

Hi,

I have my system (OMV 2.2.1) completely encrypted with LUKS. Now I plan to use the flash memory plugin. But I cannot follow the instruction listed on the plugin tab, as my fstab looks completely different.

Does anyone has experience on that or can help me with that?

Those are optional. I would make sure to add noatime. Post your fstab if you want more help.

Just change the line:
/dev/mapper/OpenMediaVault-root / ext4 errors=remount-ro 0 1
to:
/dev/mapper/OpenMediaVault-root / ext4 noatime,nodiratime,errors=remount-ro 0 1

It is up to you to comment out the swap line. If the system is heavily loaded, I wouldn't comment it out but swap adds a lot of writes to the media.

hmm, somethings seems to be wrong ... I did exactly like you proposed annd rebooted the system .. but the plugins seems not be activated

Those two fields are just a display. They do not indicate that the plugin is working. The code to determine the location of / (root) doesn't work with LVM (non-standard install). Look at the output of: mount That will tell you if it is working or not.

awesome ... with flash memory plugin, is it actually recommended to install OMV on USB sticks?

Recommended? No. Acceptable? yes. I still prefer spinning disks or SSDs.
