ssh -X into OpenMediaVault

  • Hi

    I installed gparted on openmediavault in the hope that I can ```ssh -X``` into the OMV to do some disk partitioning. But gparted tells me that it can't open the display. I was able to do the same in the same computer running Ubuntu before I installed OMV.

    My client is OS X (El Capitan).
    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Rainer

    Did you install xauth? You could install the remotedesktop plugin and use the remote desktop client to execute gparted.

    omv 7.7.7-1 sandworm | 64 bit | 6.11 proxmox kernel

    plugins :: omvextrasorg 7.0.2 | kvm 7.1.2 | compose 7.5.1 | cputemp 7.0.2 | mergerfs 7.0.5 | scripts 7.1

    omv-extras.org plugins source code and issue tracker - github - changelogs

  • Ryecoaaron is correct. You need to do the xauth after logging in. This should work for you (just used gparted this weekend)

    ssh -X into the server
    type "xauth list" to get the list of keys
    sudo su - to change to root
    type "xauth add" and the key from the previous command to add it to the list
    enjoy your xsession

    Cheers!
