Greyhole works on 0.4. The plugin doesn't install right on 0.4. If you upgrade from 0.3, it might still work but I bet it has some issues. There is quite a few things that need to be updated.
Greyhole Plugin for 0.4

Yup I had issues on 0.4 , everything works so well on 0.3 GH wise.
I just hope GH comes back I wish I had the time and know how to sort it myself, I tried it plugin less and it was really annoying!
Ah well, otherwise OMV is great I donated today hope that buys some beer.

I haven't had much time and my javascript skills leave a lot to be desired but I did look at the plugin. There is a lot of code to go through. Plus, I had never used greyhole before. So, I had to setup a 0.3 vm to check it out. Maybe I can start looking at it again later this week.

I'd be hugely grateful for any efforts in the upkeep of this super tool!

Iam digging out this thread again, as i want to install greyhole in a 0.4 vm (just gh, not the plugin) because a friend wants to use it.
I setup anyhting so far as the installation manual says (setup samba shares, with extra options, and even added follow symlinks, as i know it is disabled by default, created the mysql user and database and imported the mysql db scheme).
But unfortunately i get an error in my greyhole log, which i simply cannot find a solution on the interwebs:
CodeJul 29 15:00:35 4 daemon: PHP Warning [8]: Undefined variable: db_host in /usr/bin/greyhole on line 381; BT: greyhole[L2028] process_config() => greyhole[L6160] parse_config() Jul 29 15:00:35 4 daemon: PHP Warning [8]: Undefined variable: db_user in /usr/bin/greyhole on line 382; BT: greyhole[L2028] process_config() => greyhole[L6160] parse_config() Jul 29 15:00:35 4 daemon: PHP Warning [8]: Undefined variable: db_pass in /usr/bin/greyhole on line 383; BT: greyhole[L2028] process_config() => greyhole[L6160] parse_config() Jul 29 15:00:35 4 daemon: PHP Warning [8]: Undefined variable: db_name in /usr/bin/greyhole on line 384; BT: greyhole[L2028] process_config() => greyhole[L6160] parse_config() Jul 29 15:00:35 2 daemon: Can't connect to mysql database: SQLSTATE[28000] [1045] Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)
Any help would be aprecciated!
Greetings

Your database stuff doesn't look to be setup correctly. I would omv 0.3, install the greyhole plugin, set everything up, and upgrade to omv 0.4.

Well, i got around that error - i just filled the /usr/bin/greyhole file with the informations myself.
But I don't see anyhting get moved around. I just see it created a file* called drop on one of the two virtual share drives, but i don't see anyhting in there. (I called the greyhole pools "gh")
Greetings
DavidPS: Installing 0.3 is not the best option because the NAS is already setup, so i would like to install gh onto it, rather than reinstalling the whole NAS....

I hope I'm not misunderstanding you here. As far as I know, GH only moves files during the night when the daemon executes "greyhole -fsck". Until that time the files are temporarely stored in the "landing zone". Just trigger that command by yourself and you should be able to see the action in the logfiles.
PS: This is my first post here. I'm totally new to omv but have been using greyhole earlier.
I'm going to give omv (0.4) a try on my ancient ss4200 these days and I really need to use greyhole too. Hopefully we can sort it out together -
I would try omv 0.3 first. While omv 0.3 is not supported anymore, the operating system still is updating. Once everything is working, you could move to 0.4. Just the plugin won't work.

Dears,
Do you have any news about a greyhole support for 0.5 or an approximative ETA ?
I am stuck with 0.3 and hope to switch to 0.5 or 0.6 once it will be supported.
Best regards,

Nothing came up yet from the plugindevs talking about greyhole. So at the moment it doesnt look like its gonna be out soon.
Greetings
DavidEdit: Alltough you can upgrade from 0.3 to 0.4 and 0.5 without loosing the gh functionality. You would just loose the plugin itself.

Can somebody post some screenshots of the greyhole settings exposed over the plugin gui? thx.

See attachments:
Greyhole required the mysql plugin (because the mysql server is a dependency) on 0.2 and 0.3.

Ouch, crappy screenshots from me...

I would like to port the greyhole plugin but the mysql plugin needs to be ported first which may happen soon. So, maybe in the next month or two...

Great ! I am happy there is still hope :-).
Thank you very much. -
I have just done (well yesterday) a clean install of OMV5 and as there are no MySQL or greyhole plugins I had to set these up manually and TBH it was easier then I thought it would be. I was even able to use the existing database files for my newznab install. I did a clean install instead of an upgrade as I did not want to touch my OMV3 system drive in case I fracked something up
The system runs a little bit better then it did under OMV5 (looking at load averages)

I tried to setup greyhole from hand it doesnt looked so easy for me.

DavidThe hardest part about setting up greyhole is having MySQL setup properly, once that's done greyhole is simple. I have my MySQL database files stored on a data drive and once I told the new MySQL where that was it found my databases and used them, I had to reset the system MySQL password as I forgot to note the one OMV3 was using.
If you want I could do a step by step guide on how I did it.

Well, interesting would be how to setup greyhole from scratch with the cli. Porting from 0.3 to 0.5 may be relevant too, but you cannot tell new users to install 0.3 first, install the plugin to setup greyhole and then upgrade to 0.5. I tried to set it up for a friend that don't want to use a raid or something like that but wanted multiple copies of his images. Because we couldn't get greyhole to run (from one comment later on, it was running but I did not know that files are only moved within nights. however it was troubling for me to even get to this point). I ended up writing a backup script which rsyncs all his images from one hard disk, where we setup the shared folder, to his 3 other disks.
Greetings
David
