Raid missing

  • Hello,

I need help to get access to my files. And i don't know a lot of linux and openmediavault.

At file system 1 is missing and at raid managment no raid showing.

My openmediavault server give a error at statup dat 2/6 is missing.

    I use 6 x 2TB HDD's

    cat /proc/mdstat
    blkid
    fdisk -l
    cat /etc/mdadm/mdadm.conf

  • first of all don't panic just yet. it is rare for 2 drives failure at the same time, check the logs, did you missed a warning(s) about bad drives.
pop the case and make sure all your cables are connected properly.
try to reboot the server after the hardware checks. BUT before you turn it back on
go and get a nice external hard drive for backup.(unless you have a good backup already and all you need as time to restore.)
unless you had raid-10, the setup can not usually tolerate 2 drive failure. so if both drives did really dead the whole raid is gone.
you can try to force mount in degraded mode, but before you do make sure you have a place to copy date off, if by chance the raid will become available after.

Assuming you have a backup (since raid is not a backup), I would zero sda and try the same two commands again.

    dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda bs=512 count=10000

  • Not a recent backup.

    And how the command line?

    1) dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda bs=512 count=10000

    2) mdadm --stop /dev/md127

    3) mdadm --assemble --force --verbose /dev/md127 /dev/sd[abcdfg]

    Not a recent backup.

Did you wipe all of the drives? If more than one drive is missing the superblock, that is not good. The only other option that I know of is to use the create flag. This can wipe the array in a lot of situations. Your choice to risk it...

This assumes it was raid 5 as well
