Help installing Jackett - Error during installation of libcurl4-openssl-dev

The "W: A error..." was from a sudo apt-get update. I then tried
sudo apt-get -f install libcurl4-openssl-devand it looks like it will work, but then locks up and connection is lost

Edit - I fixed the "W: error" by doing this
sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys (my key)
now sudo apt-get update ends with "reading package lists"
But the libcurl4 install still results in same timeout not responding error.

Edited 2 times, last by stevedawg85: added more info + pic of error ().

  • You can always download the deb directly from debian and install it manually.

    Bash
    wget http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/pool/main/c/curl/libcurl4-openssl-dev_7.38.0-4+deb8u5_amd64.deb
    dpkg -i libcurl4-openssl-dev_7.38.0-4+deb8u5_amd64.deb

It's hard to say why it fails with apt-get for you, but could be proxy related, if you're using a local deb server etc.

And Jackett is okay, but MONO apps usually consume a lot of memory and cpu overhead. There's a new app out there called Cardigann that basically does the same as Jackett.

  • I was going to attempt a manual install of the .deb to finish the Jackett install, but I'll try this cardigann route first because it was also recommended somewhere else on OMV

I'm extremely noobish at this and I simply follow instructions. So, help me out with either or point me to the right place:

    • Cardigann ey? Instructions please? I downloaded 2 files and can't tell which is the one to install or what to do after I 'tar' them

      • cardigann-1.9.10.tar.gz - it extracted a bunch of folders, but I don't see a configure file
      • cardigann-stable-linux-amd64.tgz - I used the tar command and it extracted a single file named cardigann - now what?

Maybe I'll just open a new thread on cardigann and scrap this thread if I don't get any luck.
