recycle bin automatic delete

  • On my smb share "zaloha" I set emptying automatically recycle bin after 4 days. But its not happening. Files and folder are still there. Even the button "now" in attached picture does nothing. Under Total Commander I can delete folders in .recycle well. What is wrong? Thank you.

  • Hi peekaa
    There is a manual solution

    nano recycle.sh

    chmod +x recycle.sh
    run
    ./recycle.sh
Run with scheduled tasks as root

I´ve made the same experience. But my NAS isn´t running 24/7. So this may be the problem.
@peekaa Did you switch off your NAS within the 4 days hold time in recycle bin? You can try to let the NAS running for more than 4 days whether recycle bin is empty then or not? I never did that test.

I found a script in the NAS4free-forum which I have modified for OMV. It gives the possibility to set a period of time before the files are deleted. The script is executed by placing it in the /etc/cron.daily folder. It works fine and reliable. It is based on the last access time of the files in recycle bin.
