usb backup plugin btrfs compression

I am using the usb backup plugin with a btrfs formatted drive and would like to use ZSTD compression. This requires to mount the drive with the option -o compress=zstd. Is there a way to change the mount options used by the plugin? I guess I could change filesystem environmental variables but that would affect all btrfs drives.

Would you consider it a better idea to use a non-checksumed file system for usb backup @macom? Your point is new to me but I reckon that I am still better of with btrfs since I can still check the data for consistency before restore. Ext4 should be more robust in this case but it is less reliable since i cannot check for data degradation before restore.
