Expanding Snapraid

  • I have 4x4TB drives using unionfs and Snapraid. If I want to add storage am I correct in thinking I'd have to buy two bigger drives as the parity drive has to be the biggest?

  • Parity should always be the biggest drive. If you buy two more 4TB drives, you don't need to make the parity drive bigger.

  • Sorry I didn't explain myself properly - if I only have four drive slots would I need to replace two of the 4TBs with bigger drives?
