You can try this: Install OMV4 on Debian 9 (Stretch)
But OMV is strictly based on Debian, other derivates are not tested nor supported.

If you use an architecture other than AMD64 you need to use the Debian distro because the OMV project does not maintain other platform images. Alternatively use an image created by the OMV community.

I been using OMV as an OS on my drive.
I assume when you said AMD64, meant the x64 cpu.
I’m curious if I can use the next OMV version on Debian 10 see if it makes a difference. -

Yes. Debian uses AMD64 and i386 as names for Intel 32/64 bit.

Just a couple differences I've seen:
The Debian installer lets you create customized partitions. The OMV installer does not.
The Debian installer has you create a user in addition to root, whereas the OMV installer does not.
For various reasons, I've always had better luck installing Debian first. -
So OMV works fine with other installed packages on Debian ?

Yes, but keep in mind that OMV is the master of the configuration files it manages. Except that, you can do everything as you like.

Linux Mint is Ubuntu. You won't be able to install OMV on it. Plus it is a desktop which causes problems.
