Problem with SMB Share of ZFS pool

  • I have created a new pool and filesystem and I want to share it on my network through SMB/CIFS. I have an existing working share of another pool so I know that it works on my system. I am having a problem configuring the shared folder and SMB/CIFS settings of the new pool and folders. The new share appears, just like the existing share, but there are no files visible. I know there are 500GB of films there but they don't appear in the SMB share. I can see them on the command line but not in the Mac Finder file manager. My plex server can see and play the files fine. Can anyone help me understand how to make the files visible?

    System

    Code
    4.1.35-1 Arrakis
    Linux 4.15.18-27-pve
    openmediavault-zfs-4.0.4

ls -al of my two tanks: tank 2 appears fine but when I share tank 3 I can't see the files

    Code
    /tank2/media# ls -al
    drwxrwsr-x 16 media users 18 Mar 24 18:55 .
    drwxrwxrwx 5 root root 5 Oct 20 21:20 ..
    drwxr-xr-x 259 media 1002 296 Mar 26 21:32 films

    /tank3/media# ls -al
    drwxr-xr-x 3 media 1002 3 Mar 27 16:48 .
    drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 3 Mar 27 16:40 ..
    drwxr-xr-x 293 media 1002 332 Mar 24 18:09 films

  • I wiped the slate clean and installed OMV 5. Everything I want works. I did run into one problem which was similar to that above. I solved it by emptying my browser cache. I suspect that the problem above was similar and that browser caching is a common culprit causing problems with OMV.

It costs little to empty your browser cache and see if it helps, even when it is not obvious that it will or should.
