Since some weeks I got a weird problem which makes the FTP unaccessible while connecting with a non-root user, i.e. I were used to log in with my "default" account with "default" password, that I made from the users management window. I always get "530 Login incorrect", or "cannot recognize password", but I double-checked the password many times and it results to be correct. I can successfully log in using root user, but not with any other user in the system.
Note that SMB/CIFS access works with these users.
