Hi there,
I'm experiencing some weird problem: from time to time i get a load of monitoring alert mails about memory usage.
To be specific: OMV is running inside a Proxmox VM with 2GB of memory assigned. Monitoring alerts are active, but i explicitly deactivated them for memory usage, because of this issue.
Still i do get these alert mails, even though my Proxmox monitoring doesn't show any real change in memory usage as well as OMV itself, as you can see here:
This diagram shows the memory usage from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM, practically no change at all, still i got 44 alert mails, 2 per minute, from 6:00 PM to 6:22 PM, the first in every minute is about the mem usage matching the resource limit, the second tells me, everything is fine again. This does not seem to follow some kind of schedule or event or time, as these batches of mails are different in time of occurrence as well as number of mails (sometimes i get 2 every minute for almost 1 hour at night and wake up to more than 100 alert mails)!
What's even weirder, is the content of these emails:
The system monitoring needs your attention.
Host: \omv01vp.my.hostname
Date: Thu, 02 Apr 2020 18:19:05
Service: \omv01vp.my.hostname
Event: Resource limit matched
Description: mem usage of 1012317814784.0% matches resource limit [mem usage > 90.0%]
This triggered the monitoring system to: alert
The system monitoring needs your attention.

Event: Resource limit succeeded
Description: mem usage check succeeded [current mem usage = 0.3%]
This triggered the monitoring system to: alert
The first email is always exactly the same, except for time and date obviously, but it's always the exact same value of mem usage: 1012317814784.0%
The value mentioned in the second email does vary a bit, but it's always something between 0.2% and 0.7%, which seems pretty low as well.
As i said, these emails arrive only a few seconds apart from each other, not too much later the next email appears.
Maybe someone can help me?
I tried rebooting and deactivating the alerts completely (which does stop this, but as soon as i reactivate them, all except for memory usage alerts, it starts again). And i don't really know what else to do?
If you need any more information, feel free to ask!
Thank you for your time,
Twisterado
