USB 3.1 Gen 2 Card Error-28

  • Hi Guys,

i have successfully installed a usb Card in my HP-Microserver Gen 8.

    https://www.alternate.de/i-tec…duct/1545197?event=search

It will read and read and write as long as i have a cable installed with usb 2.0 / 3.0

BUT if i installed a 3.1 Cable to my external device:

    i get the following error:

    usb can't set config #1 error -28

Do you have any cloue? because i want to have full speed.

    cheers guys.

  • it looks like i'm alone then i have a semi working solution. as you have read above i can use at the same port usb 2.0 3.0 but not 3.1 cable or even the speed. the guys in the post can not use the port at all.

    eike

  • I had somehow overlooked the cable. Then it looks like the cable is the bottleneck, other cable?

    Or did I misunderstand something?

  • nahhhh if i switch to another cable it works. so if i use a 2.0 cable it works. if i use a 3.0 cable it works. if i use a 3.1 cable (always the same port) i does not work.

    i testet 1x 2.0 cable, 1 x 3.0 cable, 3x 3.1 cable and yes they are marked as 10 gbit cables

  • Wow, that's really interesting. I ended up here with my Latin - sorry!

  • You can check whether xhci drivers are built in the kernel, when the output is y, it is built in the kernel.

    grep -i xhci /boot/config-$(uname -r)

  • root@HP-Proliant:~# grep -i xhci /boot/config-$(uname -r)

    CONFIG_USB_XHCI_HCD=m

    # CONFIG_USB_XHCI_DBGCAP is not set

  • Check your BIOS for an XHCI handoff option and make sure it's enabled.

  • I tried to help you but I really don't see any light at the end of the tunnel.

Please read that, it seems very plausible.
