Hi guys

That is like asking "What is the best way to repair a car?"
It depends.
If you are talking about USB thumbdrives with the root filesystem, then clone the drives.
If you are talking about USB external storage of shared files, then copy the contents to some other drive. If the contents change, but just a little, you can use a sync utility like rsync to keep the two copies matching with minimal effort. And you can automate this.
Turn off one of the servers and pretend that it was destroyed. Then recreate it using the backups. If you haven't fully tested your backup system, assume that it isn't working.
If you care a lot about what you backup, make more than one copy. And store at least one copy at some other location.
I have my servers automatically run several rsync snapshot scripts every night. The scripts create updated timestamed snapshot copies of the contents of one server on another server. Also the scripts delete old snapshots after a while. I wrote these scripts myself, so I really, really understand what they.
OMV comes with the plugin Rsnapshot, it does something similar. But I don't quite understand how it works, so I keep using my scripts.
Hi Adoby
Yes...it is a system drive usb and cloning I can do via my clonezilla server....
Just wondered if there was a more simple solution...

Google "how do i clone my USB flash drive" for more alternatives.
I use a combination of dd (to get the MBR) and partclone (=what clonezilla use under the hood) to clone my SD cards.
Ok thanks for you time!

There is a backup plugin to backup the OS drive using rsync, dd, fsarchiver or borgbackup.
Ok thanks!
