Prevent CIFS/SMB access during backup

  • Hello,

I am fairly new to OMV but have now arrived at a build that I am quite happy with. In case necessary, I am working of a raspberry pi 4 with OMV 5.x installed.

Currently I am sitting at setting up a schedule to rsync my data from HDD 1 to HDD 2, that has been working fine so far.

The folders are of different characters and one folder is a "Time Machine" backup for a MAC in the network. What I would like to do is prevent any changes in the Shared Folders on HDD 1 while rsync is actively performing the backups. I have been trying to figure out a "elegant" solution for that problem, maybe isolating the raspberry from the network during backup time, or disable the CIFS/SMB on OMV for the time of the backup. Maybe there is some settings I can deploy with "omv-salt", but I was not able to find a good documentation on that anywhere. Or at least nothing I would understand.

Thus I thought it is time to ask the community here if they have a good suggestion for this or have solved it already for their OMV configurations?

    Thank you.
