  • You don't need to reinstall. You need to learn not to frakk up your repos. It can be cleaned up. Did you alter them manually?

Here is one thing to do when you add a repo, whether manually or via the web-gui. After you add it run "apt-get update" make sure that there are no errors. If you don't check them you can make a real mess.

Did you add lines manually to /etc/apt/sources.list? If so put contents of sources.list file in a code box.

Tell me if you have omv-extras and what repos you've enabled?

    • Offizieller Beitrag

Or you need to set your dns server.

    omv 7.0.5-1 sandworm | 64 bit | 6.8 proxmox kernel

    plugins :: omvextrasorg 7.0 | kvm 7.0.13 | compose 7.1.4 | k8s 7.1.0-3 | cputemp 7.0.1 | mergerfs 7.0.4

omv-extras.org plugins source code and issue tracker - github - changelogs

Please try ctrl-shift-R and read this before posting a question.

Please put your OMV system details in your signature.
Please don't PM for support... Too many PMs!

  • this is my sources.list i have added some lines that I '## out' later on.

  • i have enabled: Enable OMV-Extras.org repository
    as well as:
    - Virtualbox
    - Plex
    - Miller

If I use apt-clean from the guy it takes ages and I get the same error message as posted earlier.
As I have installed to many packages that I do not need I really would prefer to start out clean and then remount my RAID. I tried this with a spare ssd but than the RAID was mounted as md127.

do i set the DNS server to my routers address ie 192.168.1.254 or the DNS i get from my provider?

    Thanks for helping out!

  • We need to clean this mess up. But 1st did you setup you primary and secondary dns server when you changed to a static ip???

In OMV web-gui @ /system/network and then on the right click on dns server TAB. Primary should be ip of your router and secondary use 8.8.8.8
Then click on save and apply.

  • On the sources.list file remove these lines:

    deb http://deb-multimedia.org squeeze main non-free
    deb-src http://deb-multimedia.org squeeze main non-free

    Then do:
    apt-get update

Give me results afterwards so I can take a look. deb multimedia repo should not be active all the time because it can give some upgrades that will break your OMV.

And why did you do this (delete file that has these):

    Code
    deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/webupd8team/java/ubuntu precise main
    deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/webupd8team/java/ubuntu precise main

do "apt-get update" after deleting this file too...

You cannot install ubuntu packages on Debian. Get rid of that too. I hope you did not install anything from it yet????? Tell me if you did. Because you can stop here and reinstall if you did this. Ubuntu does not use SysVinit for managing the startup of programs anymore. Ubuntu uses Upstart now.

Hopefully you did not setup your DNS server and it saved you from installing any packages.

    ¡Ay, caramba!

  • here is the result from apt-get update

  • Once shadows instructiions were done that repo should be removed. Also, I think it would be better to try to use packages from Wheezy if necessary rather than Ubuntu.

I would use a fixed ip so you always know where your server is at on your lan. Set your dns server info before you switch to fixed.

After that is done do a:

    apt-get update

    and give me results again.

  • I have switched to static as per uour instructions. here are the results:
it stays messy. I really prefer to do a clean install and remount raid.

  • Did you set the dns server?? You are not reaching the internet and that is why it looks messy. It is not finding any of the repos. You need the name server to be telling your system what ip address to use to find the repos and this is not happening.

  • hi tekkbebe
i cleansed the sources and everything back to 'normal'. However the system is very slow and I would like to start 'clean'.
Si i did a clean install on a ssd. I would prefer to use this to compare speed of old system disk with new, Plex is almost unresponsive.
With my new clean install my RAID shows up as /dev/md127
can i get it back to norma? dev/md0? How?
