I am hoping someone can help me here and also hoping I am in the right spot. I recently upgraded to OMV 6 mainly because I lost a drive in OMV 5 and didnt want to go through a new install 3 months from now. Anyway I went from OMV 4 right to OMV 6. I absolutely love the new interface. The main things I use OMV for is plex. I have installed it in docker and got that working. Also installed OpenVPN and Wetty. The only thing I am missing that I absolutely need is there is no mergefs or unionfile in the plugins in OMV 6. Since I have a backup in another location I do not raid my system but I have a ton of movies. I split my movies in 3 folders. Movies Watched, Movies to Watch and New Releases. In OMV 4 I had pooled 3 6TB drives together so I finish watching a movie I havent seen before I put it right in the movies watched folder. Already a long story but how can I do the same thing in OMV 6. Right now all the drives have different movies on them. Want to take the 3 6TB drives and put them all together again. Sorry for the long post. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

OMV 6 is still alpha. Here is my thread on porting plugins. omv-extras plugins - porting progress to OMV 6.x

Thanks. I appreciate everything you do. Wondering if you have an ETA for mergerfs?

Nope. Read post #15 in that thread.

I see it. Thanks. Do you know is there any kind of workaround that may work for my situation?

Sure, just configure it by hand in /etc/fstab outside the openmediavault section.
Read the documentation at https://github.com/trapexit/mergerfs

I think it might be better to just wait for the plugin. I am not sure how any of this works quite frankly. Sorry for not understanding this. Thanks for the help.

First of all, big thanks for all the hard work to all people involved in this awesome project!
I understand OVM 6 will be ready when it's ready, and that's how it is. I am just wondering if there is going to be a direct upgrade path from 5.x to 6.x when it's final? I presume this on its own requires quite a bit of work, but I'm hopeful I'll not have to start from scratch...

This thread documents the upgrade procedure between versions. If you continue as before, it looks like the upgrade procedure from OMV5 to OMV6 would be created. But no one will guarantee it.
Upgrade Scripts for non-interactive major release upgrades (2->3, 3->4, 4->5)

The docker plugin is done, and you can install Portainer from there. Portainer is not really a plugin, he just made a container easy to install with the push of a button
Even if he dropped the plugin, docker is very easy to install from command line and installing Portainer with docker-compose is just as easy.
Thank you for your answer. I am just now starting to look into OMV-6 as it got RC1 level. It has a new interface and I guess I will need to get use to it. Having said that, I cannot find Docker plug-in in OMV-6 RC1 (I installed it in Virtual Box). Could you let me know how I can install it?
-
You install it through the OMV-extras tab. Be sure to change your docker path away from your system drive.

That is the thing, I do not see/have "omv-extras" tab.

What hardware are you using, amd64 or arm? And what process did you use to install?

amd64. I am on Linux Mint 20.2 and OMV6 is on Virtual Box in Mint

Install it from the plugins tab. If it’s not there then OMV-extras needs to be installed from the command line. Here you go: OMV-Extras.org Plugin

Well, thanks. That did the trick.

As OMV6 ist still in Alpha I did not want to open a new thread,
BUT: I cannot get notifications working on the OMV6 instance. I have put exactly the same info as in OMV5 but even the testmail is not sending...
The Scheduled Jobs are working fine but I just would love to get an email what has been done and if it was successful or not

As OMV6 ist still in Alpha
Well OMV6 progressed to "Release candidate" maturity on 8Nov (see announcement in blog)
As your are not sharing details about the email service provider I'd guess gmail and have to ask if all documented notes here have been considered?

I did indeed miss the RC flag, but the problem remains the same. I flipped through the Changelog but could not identify any changes that were made with the notification system.
And yes, I was setting it up with a gmail account but could also give a different address a try.

Did you follow the directions described here for gmail? https://openmediavault.readthe…/notifications.html#gmail
