Samba guest errors in syslog caused by Windows 10

  • So far I've found somebody who has the same errors as I do on this forum, but it's an old discussion.

RE: SMBD Empty Logs & no smbd_audit.log

In the meantime I've posted the issue on Technet Windows forum but hadn't had any reply yet.

  • Allright, I have a semi-final update on this:

Most of the errors were caused by Avira Antivirus checking for network drives while I was using them.

To resolve this, there are two options to be disabled.

System Scanner > enable ignore files and paths on network drives

Real Time Scanner > disable Monitor network drives

If you are using another antivirus it might do the same thin, however Windows Defender does not check network paths.

The other fact is Windows File History causes the same errors as well, but it's way less disturbing. Since it runs just few times a day there are going to be just some errors per day which won't kill syslong and your sanity.
