How to tuning SMB/CIFS for TimeMachine ?

  • Hello everyone,

I was kinda confuse how to tuning SMB/CIFS speed for my timemachine, I've following this thread https://forum.openmediavault.org/index.php?thread/12986-tunning-samba-for-more-speed/&pageNo=1 s but somehow it is stopped cannot accessed my share folder

    I'm using Raspberry PI 4 Model B

    Current extra option

    Code
    log level = 1
    socket options = TCP_NODELAY SO_RCVBUF=65536 SO_SNDBUF=65536
    read raw = yes
    write raw = yes
    max xmit = 65535
    dead time = 15
    getwd cache = yes

    Any help ?:/

  • If you think that adding the extra options broke something, just remove them.

I tried tuning SMB/CIFS for better speed many times, got no benefits at all and just gave up on it. I no longer use SMB/CIFS so the point is moot.

Nah, I tried to put it the default option

    Code
    min receivefile size = 16384
    write cache size = 524288
    getwd cache = yes
    socket options = TCP_NODELAY IPTOS_LOWDELAY

Somehow the SMB/CIFS still cannot be accessed kinda confused been reboot but the result still the same

  • I seem to remember that there were no extra options at all when I started playing with this. But what you have in there shouldn't break anything.
