Reading OMV USB drives in Windows

  • This may not even be possible, but I thought I'd check with the experts.

I have a USB 5 Disk, external storage array that keeps all the data for my OMV 5 setup, but I only have 3, 8TB drives in it currently. It has my Plex data and is working fine for access over the network when connected to OMV.

I shut down my OMV and connected it to my Win 10 pc because I want to add another drive to the 5 disk container and copy data from the new drive to the OMV data drives, but Windows doesn't see any data on them. It sees the 3 drives, but shows as all free space.

Is there any way for Windows to see what is on my OMV drives?

    Thanks guys!

If you are using ext4 as filesystem, there are some tools to read the data on windows. Use google to find them.

Alternative: spin up a linux live distro and copy the data from the USB drive to your windows machine.
