Python error while saving configuration

  • I may have had a space is a file system name, but have since deleted all my shares and file systems. This is a new setup on a helios64. I'm getting the following error when I try to save the configuration:

    Failed to execute command 'export PATH=/bin:/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/sbin; export LANG=C.UTF-8; omv-salt deploy run --no-color fstab 2>&1' with exit code '1': Traceback (most recent call last): File "/sbin/omv-salt", line 150, in <module> sys.exit(main()) File "/sbin/omv-salt", line 146, in main cli() File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/click/core.py", line 764, in __call__ return self.main(*args, **kwargs) File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/click/core.py", line 717, in main rv = self.invoke(ctx) File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/click/core.py", line 1137, in invoke return _process_result(sub_ctx.command.invoke(sub_ctx)) File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/click/core.py", line 1137, in invoke return _process_result(sub_ctx.command.invoke(sub_ctx)) File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/click/core.py", line 956, in invoke return ctx.invoke(self.callback, **ctx.params) File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/click/core.py", line 555, in invoke return callback(*args, **kwargs) File "/sbin/omv-salt", line 133, in deploy_run result = caller.cmd("state.orchestrate", names) File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/salt/client/__init__.py", line 2135, in cmd return self.sminion.functions[fun](*args, **kwargs) File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/salt/modules/state.py", line 368, in orchestrate pillarenv=pillarenv, File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/salt/runners/state.py", line 129, in orchestrate orchestration_jid=orchestration_jid, File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/salt/modules/state.py", line 1351, in sls initial_pillar=_get_initial_pillar(opts), File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/salt/state.py", line 4575, in __init__ self.client = salt.fileclient.get_file_client(self.opts) File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/salt/fileclient.py", line 66, in get_file_client )(opts) File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/salt/fileclient.py", line 1464, in __init__ self.channel = salt.fileserver.FSChan(opts) File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/salt/fileserver/__init__.py", line 877, in __init__ self.fs.update() File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/salt/fileserver/__init__.py", line 492, in update self.servers[fstr]() File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/salt/fileserver/roots.py", line 168, in update line = salt.utils.stringutils.to_unicode(line) File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/salt/utils/stringutils.py", line 147, in to_unicode return _normalize(to_str(s, encoding, errors)) File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/salt/utils/stringutils.py", line 104, in to_str raise exc # pylint: disable=raising-bad-type File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/salt/utils/stringutils.py", line 97, in to_str return _normalize(s.decode(enc, errors)) UnicodeDecodeError: 'utf-8' codec can't decode byte 0x84 in position 2761: invalid start byte

    The error is consistent before and after I deleted all my file systems, so I'm guessing it is a bad character in one of the config files, but I'm unable to find it. Does anyone have a more general remedy (other than rebuilding the system)?
