[solved] UPS configuration / OMV5 / USB

  • Hi guys,

I want to configure my UPS to OMV5. The UPS is connected to the server with USB.

    repro steps:

    - server shutdown

    - connect UPS power

    - connect UPS USB to server

    - startup UPS

    - startup server

    lsusb shows me:

Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub

    Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0001:0000 Fry's Electronics

Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

It will not run, by just activating the plugin with default settings.

If I try so, I get:

Failed to execute command 'export PATH=/bin:/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/sbin; export LANG=C.UTF-8; omv-salt deploy run --no-color nut 2>&1' with exit code '1': debian: ---------- ID: configure_nut_nut_conf Function: file.managed Name: /etc/nut/nut.conf Result: True Comment: File /etc/nut/nut.conf is in the correct state Started: 07:53:27.913908 Duration: 68.125 ms Changes: ---------- ID: configure_nut_ups_conf Function: file.managed Name: /etc/nut/ups.conf Result: True Comment: File /etc/nut/ups.conf is in the correct state Started: 07:53:27.982292 Duration: 16.518 ms Changes: ---------- ID: configure_nut_upsd_conf Function: file.managed Name: /etc/nut/upsd.conf Result: True Comment: File /etc/nut/upsd.conf is in the correct state Started: 07:53:27.999064 Duration: 22.815 ms Changes: ---------- ID: configure_nut_upsd_users Function: file.managed Name: /etc/nut/upsd.users Result: True Comment: File /etc/nut/upsd.users updated Started: 07:53:28.022130 Duration: 27.942 ms Changes: ---------- diff: --- +++ @@ -1,11 +1,11 @@ # This file is auto-generated by openmediavault (https://www.openmediavault.org) # WARNING: Do not edit this file, your changes will get lost. Can someone help me on, on how to configure OMV? Can it be done alone in GUI or is some CLI necessary?

Thanks and have a great day!

  • One step ahead, I think I can answer my question and solve the problem by myself. Contributing to the community - hopefully - with this information.

After researching a bit I came across: https://networkupstools.org/stable-hcl.html

There, you can filter on e.g. manufacturer, model and connection type like USB, which I am using. So far, my brand/model is not listed, but anyway.

There a lot of UPS'es that use usbhid-ups and blazer_usb, the first ist by default given in OMV.

I simply tried out blazer_usb, saved and applied and it works.

Some other infos from the CLI:

    Cheers!
