Can't View Media Files From Previous Installs

  • Hi,

I use OMV as a plex media server but plex was complaining the server version was too old and I couldn't find a way to upgrade it so time for a OMV upgrade.

I've installed the latest version of OMV 5 and I'm trying to setup SMB so I can access the files again.

The files are on an xfs RAID partition which has been mounted and it's showing the correct amount of data on the drive in 'File Systems'

I have set up myself as a user with full permissions and added a shared folder mapped to the File System.

I notice when I check the ACL for the shared folder it doesn't list the directories it contains.

I've enabled SMB and added the shared folder.

The issue is I can't see any of the existing files or directories.

I can transfer files to the share fine so it's working.

I presume this is a permissions issue but I don't know how to fix it?

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks

Sounds like the shared folder is not pointing to the correct (existing) folder on the drive.

Instead you might have created a new folder on the drive. You can check for spelling errors. Be aware that folder names are case sensitive.

BTW: don't mess around with ACL, unless you are really sure you have to

  • HI,

    Thanks for your help.

You were exactly right, I didn't know when you recreate the share you had to name it the same as it was originally.
