Rsnapshot doesn't run automatically

  • Hello,

can anyone tell me what I have wrong in the config?

It works when I press Run, but it doesn't run automatically. I want it to keep 2 days back ups.

    Thanks for your time

  • Yes, it would be ok.

It was set up 30.10. (I did Run that day).

Today I checked that folder, there was still one folder.

So I did Run again and another folder showed up. So it's not working... In that old folder are still files from 30.11. so it's also not overwriting.

So I think it's not running... Right?

    seems so.

Not sure if a comment is needed.

Did you change any environmental variables in /etc/default/openmediavault?

    e.g. OMV_RSNAPSHOT_DISABLE_CRON

Check if you have a job defined in /etc/cron.d/openmediavault-rsnapshot

  • I edited the text after I checked a few more things :D

I didn't change anything. I do everything only through the GUI. I don't know anything in Linux so I do everything just like that.

"Check if you have a job defined in /etc/cron.d/openmediavault-rsnapshot"

    EDITED: Sorry wrong file before:

ok, the content of the file should look like this:

    Code
    # Create cron file
    # This is the cron file for openmediavault-rsnapshot.
    # The file /var/lib/openmediavault/cron.d/rsnapshot will mirror
    # the jobs that are configured in the plugin.
    # m h dom mon dow user command
    5 * * * * root /var/lib/openmediavault/cron.d/rsnapshot hourly
    30 3 * * * root /var/lib/openmediavault/cron.d/rsnapshot daily
    0 3 * * 1 root /var/lib/openmediavault/cron.d/rsnapshot weekly
    30 2 1 * * root /var/lib/openmediavault/cron.d/rsnapshot monthly
    00 2 1 1 * root /var/lib/openmediavault/cron.d/rsnapshot yearly

Check if it is created if you add something in the "comment" field

  • It is created, by my mistake I opened that file what do you want to see now.

So the first post is openmediavault-rsnapshot

    And here is rsnapshot

  • I don't know why it's there, maybe it's how long is it installed?

I'm doing updates always when they are available.

Are there any logs in the rsnapshot Log view in the web interface?

    edit /var/lib/openmediavault/cron.d/rsnapshot and add

    set -x

on the next line right after #!/bin/bash

    Then execute

    sudo /var/lib/openmediavault/cron.d/rsnapshot daily
