Unable to mount/open omv/smb/cifs on linux network folder

  • This is the information I got when I tried to identify my Pi OpenMediaVault (not sure which version) server after installation, adding shared folders and trying to connect with a Linux Mint laptop 20.10

This is from the web page interface for the server--------

"Failed to execute command 'export PATH=/bin:/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/sbin; export LANG=C.UTF-8; ethtool --identify 'eth0' 10 2>&1' with exit code '255': Cannot identify NIC: Operation not supported"

    Shown details--

    "Error #0:

OMV\ExecException: Failed to execute command 'export PATH=/bin:/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/sbin; export LANG=C.UTF-8; ethtool --identify 'eth0' 10 2>&1' with exit code '255': Cannot identify NIC: Operation not supported in /usr/share/openmediavault/engined/rpc/network.inc:390

This is the error from My laptop-----

    "Unable to mount location

Failed to retrieve share list from server: Connection refused"

I have enabled these services and they are showing up as enabled and running in the omv admin dashboard, "NFS, SMB/CIFS, SSH".

I have nine locations in my network window all but one give the same error as above.

    How do I fix it?

This is the basic information of my laptop os-----

I hope that this is enough information to help me fix it.

  • I'm sorry, I'm a German native speaker.

Unfortunately, you write little about how exactly you gave the releases (Freigabe). Under you even write nfs and smb.

Personally, I find sharing with nfs easier, especially since it is the Linux protocol.

You have to install something in Mint

    Code
    apt install nfs-common

Create a folder in your /home directory and then simply mount the share.

    Code
    sudo mount -t nfs IP:/share /home/all/directory

By IP I mean the IP address of your NAS.

For me it looks like this

    Code
    sudo mount -t nfs 192.168.178.36:/OMV /bernd/home/OMV

As a last step, you could add the following line to /etc/fstab

    Code
    192.168.178.36:/OMV /home/bernd/OMV nfs auto,nofail,users,rw,nosuid,dev,exec,async 0 0

Then the NAS is mounted immediately when the laptop is started.

  • Vielen Dank für Ihre Antwort, ich werde das versuchen. Und wenn Sie sich wohler fühlen, mir auf Deutsch zu antworten, als direkt voranzugehen, werde ich eine Online-Übersetzungsseite nutzen.Vielen Dank.https://www.translate.com/english-german
