Possible to build a NAS with OMV, Raspberry Pi and WD My Book Duo (Raid 1)?

    Hi,


    I want to build a NAS.


    With a Raspberry Pi 4 and OMV. This shouldn't be a problem.


    Now my question if it's possible to have a WD My Book Duo as a storage solution.

    Should be Raid 1. This means it's either ExFat or HFS+J file system (afaik).

    I prefer to have HFS+J to be able to mount this also directly on a Mac.


    Is this generally possible or are there objections?

    Is that a software raid or hardware?


    Software will be no joy, as OMV doesn't support USB drives being in a RAID. Hardware it should be possible I think (assuming the enclosure controls the RAID). Beyond that, Raid1 is stupid in this setup, IMO. Setup a simple rsync job to sync the two drives a couple times a day, and nix the RAID idea.


    As for the file systems.. not sure on exfat, but I don't think it supports HFS.. but I don't use either.
