Converting to RAID

  • I currently have a single non-RAID WD 3TB drive.
Since I've already had a failure of this model drive, I'd like to convert my OMV installation to RAID1 by buying a second, same size disk. Probably Seagate this time.

Is there a how-to doc on how to do this? Will I lose data on my existing drive? Am I better off getting a WD drive so that the two drives are identical, even though I've had problems with WD Red drives?

Eventually, I may want to add another disk and go to RAID 5. Same questions on that...
    Thanks

  • No you can't convert it to a RAID.

Also don't mistake RAID with backup.

    Greetings
    David
