Was just talking about this....
I really like the new UI.

Well, Debian Bullseye isn't even officially released yet (although I've read rumors it will be released in about a week), so sometime after that. My hope is we see OMV 6 by the end of the year, but I don't do dev work, so it is strictly that

Having played around a bit, visually it's a huge improvement, although maybe a bit excessive on the "animation" of the various menus opening on the left.
Overall it looks and feels a lot more professional than earlier versions, it's really quite amazing what a UI/UX overhaul can do.
At the same time, it's not a UI that's just there to look fancy, like what QNAP, Synology, etc. largely does.
There's also a new notification area where errors etc. can easily be copied from, which is great for fault finding.
Overall it feels a lot slicker and informative, even though there clearly is work to do, as for example performance graphs are all a bit weird now, as they scale poorly in the new UI.

is posible to test omvextras compatibility too?

is posible to test omvextras compatibility too?
As far as I know work hasn't started on it yet. Aaron mentioned that not to long ago

The omvextras plugin itself has been ported. flashmemory and minidlna too. But the other plugins will take time. The web interface part of the plugin is a complete rewrite and in some cases need to be completely changed how they work.

do you want testers?, I have a real physical machine for this pourpouses (HP T510) and I actually test OMV6 on it, so no problem to do the same on OMVExtras
-

Not much to test right now. I would rather have people porting code.

sorry only user here not coding

Well, you can create a test OMV6 system if you want and test plugins when they appear in the repo. You can just test OMV 6 too. Volker has ported all of his plugins.

Any date for final release ?
EXT4 available for RAID storage ?

Any date for final release ?
"When it is done."
EXT4 available for RAID storage ?
It always has been and still will be in 6.x. OMV doesn't know or care if ext4 is on raid. It just looks at the ext4 filesystem.

Any date for final release ?
There is a spider crawling this site for this question. When it finds it, the release date is automatically pushed out by an ever increasing amount.
-
this looks amazing!! My biggest concern is my 10 disk RAID-6 with LUKS. Will LUKS be fine on version 6 or will I need to figure out a different storage solution?
-
LUKS is a Linux standard encryption scheme and not dependent on OMV. So yes, it will work in OMV 6.

ext4 is a native Linux filesystem but you can't use it in the OMV web interface without a backend. So, while an existing LUKS device with filesystem will be fine, you will have to do everything from the command line to get to that point without the LUKS plugin. So, you are correct but not mentioning all the web interface functionality you lose without the plugin (which is the point of OMV).

OMV6 will be smoothly upgradable as any application or we will need to install it from scratch?
Seem users reporting that installed from scratch in a test environment but no comments about the upgrade.

All versions of OMV have been upgradable. But as usual, a fresh install generally provides a better experience. That said, OMV 6.x is nowhere near release and there is no official upgrade path yet. You shouldn't be upgrading a 5.x install yet anyway. People are installing 6.x to test it.
