SMB user access not working on Mac

I've been trying for a while to configure a samba share to work with users. This does work on my Windows machine. However on my Mac, the share only seems to work with guest access enabled. My user account is set for read/write on both Shared Privileges and ACL. It's just on my Mac, and clicking "connect as" with proper user credentials just never works. Is there a setting I could be missing? Thanks.

Thanks. I started following through the guide. I made a user in OMV that matched the user account I use on the Mac. It's not ideal, but that seemed to do the trick. Thanks again.
